DUI Strike Force!
Sounds intimidating, doesn't it? That's the intention. The Chicago Police unit targeting DUI will be out this weekend working their magic in the Chicago Lawn (8th) district and the Shakespeare (14th) district this weekend.
The Chicago Lawn district patrols will be invaded by the Chicago Police DUI Strike Force starting 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 to 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014.
The DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Shakespeare District will start about 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 and end at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2014.
The CPD may even have their Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit (BAT-mobile?) deployed to officers more effectively gather evidence against motorists that have been arrested for Driving under the Influence (yes, that's right, a breath test is an evidence collection tool).
These must be really effective, right? Imagine pulling officers off of regular patrols and allowing them to do their own thinking and observation and telling them exactly where to be and what to do. It must be very effective to spend that kind of special effort.
According to the CPD's own press release, their last such enforcement effort with the DUI Strike Team netted a whopping 3 DUI arrests over January 3-4.
Three.
