What are the penalties?

Prostitution is a Class A misdemeanor, and a defendant may face up to 1 year in jail or a fine of up to $2,500, or both jail time and a fine. If a defendant has any prior prostitution-related convictions on his or her record, Class 4 felony charges may be filed and the defendant may face up to 3 years in state prison if convicted.
